About MRCSC

The Massachusetts Regional Caring Science Consortium (MRCSC) is a local grass-roots forum, that emerged from the Watson Caring Science Institute’s International Caritas Consortium (ICC), to increase opportunities in exploring the philosophy, ethic, and practices of Caring Science in the Massachusetts and New England area. With the suspension of in-person meetings during the pandemic, MRCSC has been organizing bi-annual web-based programs that are open to those interested in Caring Science, world-wide.

Next Consortium Program

The Spring 2024 MRCSC program

Tuesday, April 16, 2024 – 11 am to 12:30 pm

Program will focus on Nurses as Change Makers, Part 1— Four Essential Practices for Healing Self. This program addresses the need for nurses to attend to their own healing processes in preparation for caring for others. The program considers the four essential practices of healing highlighted in Caring Science —Surrender, Forgiveness, Gratitude, and Compassionate Service— and gives examples of self-healing micropractices that nurses can do daily.

Most Recent Consortium Program

The MRCSC programs were Caring Science in Action Part 1: Developing Caring Relationships in Academic Settings in the Spring and Part 2: Developing Caring Relationships in Nursing Practice Settings in the Autumn.
The Spring virtual 90-minute Zoom presentation dealt with essential preparations needed for caring teaching and learning, sustaining caring faculty and student relationships, and ingredients of caring teaching-learning academic programs. The Fall program featured an interprofessional panel of nurses and other health care practitioners, all of whom practice from a caring science perspective, reflecting on their approach to Caring.
