Watson Caring Science Institute (WCSI) supports the teaching and dissemination of Dr. Jean Watson’s Unitary Caring Science theory and practice. WCSI provides many learning and study programs, such as the 6-month Caritas Coach Education Program (CCEP); the Caritas Leadership program; Affiliation programs for Academic and Clinical Institutions; an annual WCSI conference; as well as free virtual learning opportunities for monthly conversations, state or multiple states’ Consortia programs, and courses in Caring Science theory, application and practice. Membership includes access to more in depth resources.
International Association for Human Caring (IAHC)
IAHC, formed in 1978 by many of today’s leading caring theorists, offers a worldwide forum for scholars, educators, practitioners, and researchers of nursing and other disciplines to study and share caring theories, philosophy, foundations, research, practice models of care for humanity and earth, and the lived experiences of illness and healing .
IAHC publishes the quarterly online International Journal for Human Caring (IJHC) and sponsors annual conferences both in the USA and other countries. It also offers virtual short programs throughout the year, focusing on caring conversations, conversations with a theorist, and journal club that features published authors in the International Journal for Human Caring. Membership includes free access to the online IJHC (and all back issues) and discounted conference rates, as well as opportunities to serve on IAHC committees and the Board of Directors.
The Nursing Way
The Nursing Way is an online organization with a Mission to support nurses by introducing new levels of healing, caring, and thriving for nurses, with love as a guiding force. Multiple types of virtual one-hour presentations of varied participatory and experiential opportunities are offered throughout each week. Programs have no fee. Membership is encouraged to support the organization, but not required to attend programs.
American Holistic Nurses Association
The American Holistic Nurses Association is a nursing organization that also includes members from other disciplines. The mission of AHNA is to promote holistic-healing-caring care of self and others through study/education, practice, and research. The association has chapters in various states;local chapters encourage more personal involvement and sharing. Annual conferences are held in various US sites. AHNA publishes a journal, a forum called Beginnings, and other educational literature for members and the public. AHNA offers an in-depth study program to become a Board-certified Holistic Nurse.
Archives of Caring in Nursing (Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing)

Florida Atlantic University’s Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing has created a repository to preserve the study of caring in nursing history. Scholars and students are invited to use the archival works of earlier caring scholars to build on previous works, continuing the advancement of caring as an essential domain of nursing knowledge and practice.
Scholars of caring theory and practice are invited to contribute their works to the Archives. Contributed papers, dissertations, and notes on development of ideas are then cataloged and stored for reference by other caring scholars. The Anne Boykin Institute (ABI) for the Advancement of Caring in Nursing globally promotes the universal significance and practices of caring in nursing, as well as other disciplines, by knowledge dissemination and support of caring scholars, educators, and practitioners. It provides global leadership and support for nursing education, practice, and research grounded in caring , as well as supporting the caring mission of the Florida Atlantic University’s Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, a leader in caring philosophy, curriculum, and research. The ABI sponsors an annual Anne Boykin Summer Academy and other forums to invite global participatory dialogue, study, promotion of caring theory and practices.
