The Massachusetts Regional Caring Science Consortium (MRCSC) will present a free virtual 90-minute Spring Program on Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM US Eastern Time. (UTC−04:00). The Program, Healing the Caregiver: Sustaining Self-Wellbeing Practices in Stressful Times, will explore healing practices for the caregiver through the lens of Caring Science, including experiential activities around mindfulness, reflective practice, meditation, and other mind-body-spirit renewal practices. The speakers will be:

Lynne Wagner, EdD, MSN, RN, FACCE, HMCT, Caritas Coach®, Faculty Associate, Watson Caring Science Institute;

Danielle Leone-Sheehan, PhD, RN, Assistant Professor of Nursing, Merrimack College, North Andover, MA;

Christine McNulty Buckley, DNP, MBA, RN, CPHQ, NEA‑BC, Caritas Coach®, Associate Professor, School of Nursing, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University, and a Mindfulness Practitioner; Certified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Teacher; Certified Koru Mindfulness Teacher; Wellcoaches® Certified Health & Wellness Coach, and

Rachael Salguero, MSN, RN-BC, CNEcl; Instructor, School of Nursing, MGH Institute of Health Professions.

Each speaker brings expertise, insight, and experience in the various aspects of caring science and nursing practice that guide compassionate self-care healing practices, especially needed in these extraordinary challenging pandemic times in nursing history.

All nurses and nursing students from every setting and role are invited to attend and will find the program meaningful and grounded in caring science philosophy and healing practices. Contact Hours will be awarded.

About MRCSC

The Massachusetts Regional Caring Science Consortium (MRCSC) is a local grass-roots forum, that emerged from the Watson Caring Science Institute’s International Caritas Consortium (ICC) to increase opportunities in exploring the philosophy, ethic, and practices of Caring Science in the Massachusetts and New England area. After the suspension of in-person meetings during the pandemic, MRCSC has been organizing bi-annual web-based programs that are open to those interested in Caring Science, world-wide.

The Massachusetts Regional Caring Science Consortium (MRCSC) 2024 Spring and Fall virtual programs offered a two-part virtual series on Nurses as Change Makers. The MRCSC Spring Program focused on Nurses as Change Makers, Part 1— Four Essential Practices for Healing Self. This program addressed the need for nurses to attend to their own healing processes in preparation for caring for others. The Fall program, Nurses as Change Makers, Part 2: Cultivating Caring-Healing Culture in Practice Settings, featured examples of how nurses have used Caring Science practices to foster caring-healing cultures in various work settings, including in different patient care settings and in nursing education.
