The 7th Massachusetts Regional Caring Science Consortium conference, will be held at UMass Worcester Medical School/Graduate School of Nursing from 7:30 am to 12 noon, Nov. 5, 2019.

It is exciting to announce that the keynote speaker will be Jean Watson, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN, (LL-AAN), renowned nurse theorist of Caring Science; Distinguished Professor Emerita and Dean Emerita, University of Colorado Denver, College of Nursing, Anschutz Medical Center; author of many publications; and Founder/Director of the Watson Caring Science Institute (WCSI).  Dr. Watson will present Caritas Nursing IS the Healing Environment. This is a rare and eventful opportunity to meet Dr. Watson, honored as a Living Legend by the American Academy of Nursing and recipient of many awards, including 15 Honorary Doctorates, 12 of which are international. Dr. Watson’s Caring Science theory and practice model for quality human care have evolved since the 1970’s, and are founded on a humanistic, moral-ethical philosophy of loving-kindness, compassion, authentic presence, and transpersonal/transformative relationships and caring moments of human to human connections.  She teaches and writes about caring with love (caritas) and healing practices guiding  health care practitioners and health care systems worldwide to foster and sustain personal and professional well-being, healing relationships with colleagues and patients, and  healthy work environments. These things  support human flourishing and dignity and encourage the best outcomes in patient care. Caring Science fosters deeper dimensions and meaning to nursing science, humanizing each person’s health and illness experiences.  For more detail about Dr. Watson’s biography and resume, publications, and theory of Caring Science, visit www.watsoncaringscience.org.

There will also be a panel of Nurse Caritas Coaches®, graduates of the WCSI’s ANCC-accredited Caritas Coach Education Program® (CCEP), which prepares nurses and other health care providers to coach, teach and implement caring-healing philosophy and practices. The Coaches will present their Caring Science projects that they launched in their acute care and outpatient care settings with healing outcomes. There will be time for interactive questions and sharing with all the speakers, as well as some take-home handouts.  Join the presentations and conversation on Nov. 5, 2019 to renew your caring practices and heart of nursing.

Continental breakfast  and contact hours will be provided, thanks to the UMass Worcester Graduate School of Nursing. Parking is available at the South Road Parking Garage for a nominal fee. There is no fee for the conference, but registration on this website is required.
