Human-Centered Leadership in Healthcare: Making a Healing Difference from Bedside Nurse to Boardroom Decision-makers

The Massachusetts Regional Caring Science Consortium (MRCSC) is a local grass-roots forum, that emerged from the Watson Caring Science Institute’s International Caritas Consortium (ICC) to increase opportunities in exploring the philosophy, ethic, and practices of Caring Science in the Massachusetts and New England area. After the suspension of in-person meetings during the pandemic, MRCSC has been organizing bi-annual web-based programs that are open to those interested in Caring Science, world-wide.

The Fall 2024 MRCSC program will be on

The 2024 MRCSC topic is Nurses as Change Makers, Part 1 in April 2024 focused on Four Essential Practices for Healing Self. The Fall program is Part 2 and deals with Cultivating Caring-Healing Culture in Practice Settings. This Fall program will feature examples of how nurses have used Caring Science practices to foster caring-healing cultures in various work settings, including different patient care settings and in nursing education.

The April 2024 MRCSC Program addressed Nurses as Change Makers, Part 1— Four Essential Practices for Healing Self. It addressed the need for nurses to attend to their own healing processes in preparation for caring for others. The program considered the four essential practices of healing highlighted in Caring Science —Surrender, Forgiveness, Gratitude, and Compassionate Service— and gave examples of self-healing micropractices that nurses can do daily.
